The second meeting of the State Health Assessment (SHA) and State Health Improvement Plan Advisory Committee was held May 19 for the purpose of identifying state health priorities, metrics, objectives, and strategies for improving the health of Ohioans. Executive Vice President Ann Spicer is a member of the Advisory Committee and attended representing the Ohio Academy of Family Physicians.
The Governor’s Office of Health Transformation competitively selected the Health Policy Institute of Ohio to facilitate the work of this committee and to update Ohio’s SHA and state health improvement plan. The updated state health improvement plan will identify population health priorities within a framework that will be used to guide future funding priorities and other resource commitments.
Under the OAFP’s new strategic plan, population health and the family physician’s role in population health management is emphasized.
The SHA is planned for release in the summer 2016 and the state health improvement plan will be released by December 2016.
