Your emails made a difference – pursuant to our alert on May 13, over 2,000 emails were sent by Ohio Academy of Family Physicians members to Ohio House Health Committee members asking that psychiatric advanced practice registered nurses (APRNs) independent practice be removed from House Bill 216.
We have received word from the bill sponsor, Representative Dorothy Pelanda (R-Marysville, OH) that psychiatric APRN independent practice is being removed from the bill. This essentially means that there are now no APRN independent practice provisions in the APRN independent practice bill.
The bill could be voted out of the House Health Committee as early as Wednesday, May 25.
For more information on this bill, visit the OAFP website and watch future issues of the Weekly Family Medicine Update for updates.
Thanks again for the overwhelming response to the advocacy alert!
