A study examining each of the past three years (2013, 2014, and 2015) reveals a decrease in each year of physician-prescribed opioids. This is the first sustained decrease in 20 years. The finding is important as the message about the effects of addiction is beginning to resonate with physicians and may mark the peak of the prescription opioid epidemic, experts say.
