The Ohio Academy of Family Physicians has contributed $1,000 to the effort to purchase generators so that family physicians in Puerto Rico can reopen their practices and care for patients.
Contributions from individuals are welcome and are being processed through the Indiana Academy of Family Physicians Foundation.
Government officials estimate that parts of Puerto Rico will be without power for 4-6 months. We are currently working with family physicians, health professionals, relief groups, and other state chapters to get generators in the hands of family physicians in Puerto Rico. Members of the Puerto Rico Academy of Family Physicians are personally accepting and delivering supplies as long as they are needed.
The IAFP Foundation is a 501(c)(3) organization, therefore your donation is tax deductible. We will be covering all transaction fees, which means that 100% of your donation will go toward this effort. The cost of one generator is $1,000 – and we have set a goal of providing 60 generators to the family physicians of Puerto Rico.
