The United States is experiencing an unprecedented increase in the number of opioid-related deaths due to opioid use disorders and co-occurring medical and mental disorders. In response to this healthcare crisis, the American Academy of Addiction Psychiatry (AAAP) and its coalition of 27 national healthcare partner organizations, including the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP), formed the Opioid Response Network (ORN), formerly known as the STR-TA consortium, to provide training and technical assistance across the country focusing on the local level needs.
Join Ohio Academy of Family Physicians member Robin Chatman, MD, MPH, CPE, FAAFP, on Wednesday, October 21, from 7:00 – 8:30 p.m. for the Let’s Talk Opioids Webinar: Opioid Use Disorder Prevention, Treatment, and Recovery. This webinar will provide physicians the opportunity to learn about the Opioid Response Network (ORN) and its evidence-based resources that can assist in addressing opioid use disorder prevention, treatment, and recovery with patients.
About the ORN
The early misuse of prescription or illicit drugs increases the chances of addiction throughout the lifespan. Educating and empowering communities and physicians to prevent use and exposure to drugs leads to measurable impact in life-threatening behaviors. The ORN is here to help create recovery programs and trainings that are research-based and can help people recover from Opioid Use Disorder (OUD). Like other chronic diseases, recovering from opioid use disorder involves a continuum of care that includes medication, counseling, and peer and community support.
The ORN works with individuals, organizations, and communities to provide the knowledge, training, and education resources needed to address local needs from prevention to treatment and recovery. Physicians looking for resources to utilize can submit a request to ORN, and a representative will respond within one business day.
