Ohio Academy of Family Physicians member Kelly Thibert, DO, MPH, PGY3 at Grant Family Medicine Residency in Columbus, OH, was elected during the National Conference of Family Medicine Residents and Medical Students (National Conference) to serve as the resident member of the American Academy of Family Physicians Board of Directors. National Conference was held July 25-27 in Kansas City, MO.
Dr. Thibert’s one-year term on the AAFP Board will begin once she is sworn-in during the 2019 AAFP Congress of Delegates which will be held in Philadelphia in September.
Dr. Thibert has been a resident leader for both the OAFP and the OAFP Foundation. Dr. Thibert serves on the OAFP Foundation Board of Trustees where she chairs the Outreach Team. Under her leadership, the Outreach Team has successfully increased the number of National Conference scholarships offered by the Foundation from four to sixteen. Dr. Thibert has also served three times as resident delegate to the OAFP annual meeting, has twice represented Ohio residents as their delegate to the National Conference, and is a member of the OAFP Public Policy Committee. Dr. Thibert is also co-chief of her residency program.
As a medical student at the Nova Southeastern University College of Osteopathic Medicine in Davie, FL, she was elected and served as president of the American Medical Student Association in Washington, DC.
In addition, Dr. Thibert serves currently as the resident member on the AAFP Commission on Membership and Member Services, a role she says was the highlight of her second year of residency. This national commission service experience confirmed her belief that service through the AAFP is the best path to strengthen family medicine and support her fellow family physicians who daily improve the health of patients, families, and communities.
Congratulations, Dr. Thibert!
