Ohio Academy of Family Physicians member Mary Krebs, MD, of Xenia, OH, has been appointed chair of the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP) Commission on Quality and Practice for 2020. Upon recommendation of the AAFP Subcommittee on Screening, the AAFP Board of Directors made the appointment at its meeting on September 21. The announcement of Dr. Krebs’ appointment was made at the close of the AAFP Congress of Delegates meeting on September 29 in Philadelphia.
In the OAFP letter of chapter support for Dr. Krebs’ appointment, Immediate Past President Stan Anderson, MD, stated, “Having served three years on the commission’s executive committee and as a member and current co-convener of the AAFP Working Group on Rural Health, Dr. Krebs understands the important work of the commission and is well-suited to lead the group forward in accomplishing its objectives.”
“Currently in solo, rural family practice at HealthSource of Ohio (a federally qualified health center), Dr. Krebs also serves as faculty at Soin Medical Center Family Medicine Residency Program, a new residency where she created and implemented its practice management and quality improvement curriculum.”
“Dr. Krebs has served as a member of the OAFP Board of Directors where she has taken a leadership role in our chapter’s quality improvement (QI) initiatives. Dr. Krebs played a key role in development of our hypertension and diabetes QI modules and has been the lead presenter for our QI Summit’s breast and cervical cancer screening track. Active on several OAFP committees, Dr. Krebs chaired our Family Medicine Celebration CME Workgroup. In addition, Dr. Krebs gave three lectures during the 2018 AAFP Family Medicine Experience (FMX) and lectured again at the 2019 FMX in Philadelphia.”
“Known for her ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and staff, Dr. Krebs is detail-oriented, thoughtful, a good listener, always prepared, and well-organized – all things that one looks for in a commission chair. All of these traits were evident when Dr. Krebs served ably as a member constituency delegate at the 2015 AAFP Congress of Delegates where she served on a reference committee. She also led colleagues as AAFP National Conference of Constituency Leaders co-convener.”
Congratulations, Dr. Krebs!
