Join us for the next Bite-Sized Learning Session on Sunday, November 22, at 8 p.m. live on the Ohio Academy of Family Physicians (OAFP) Facebook page and YouTube page.
Moderated by OAFP member Ryan Kauffman, MD, FAAFP, this week’s session will focus on immunizations and vaccine confidence with special guest speaker Robert Frenck, MD, medical director for Ohio American Academy of Pediatrics’ Teen Immunization Education Sessions (TIES).
Dr. Frenck is an infectious diseases researcher at the Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center, where he serves as the director of the Gamble Center for Clinical Research, assessing new vaccines and agents designed to prevent infections. Dr. Frenck is also the principal investigator of the Vaccine Treatment and Evaluation Unit, which is funded by the National Institutes of Health.
His research has been published in various journals, including Clinical Infectious Diseases, Open Forum Infectious Diseases, Lancet Infectious Diseases and the Journal of Clinical Rheumatology: Practical Reports on Rheumatic and Musculoskeletal Disease.
This topic comes at an interesting crossroads. As development of a COVID-19 vaccine continues to advance and as the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP) launches a new campaign focused on immunizations and vaccines, now is the time to update knowledge and armor up to have important conversations with patients and parents!
The duo will discuss everything from immunizations and vaccines, to vaccine confidence and motivational interviewing. They will also share information on the AAFP campaign and the TIES program.
Listen in for timely information and to ask questions!
This series of Bite-Sized Learning Sessions has been created to serve as an opportunity for members to come together during a time when connecting and learning from each other is crucial. Join family physician presenters as they share their story of family medicine, a practice pivot, or a newfound joy during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The OAFP will host these learning sessions on Sunday evenings (as we have speakers and topics), beginning at 8 p.m. Members can join the conversation by logging on to the OAFP Facebook page or the OAFP YouTube page to watch live.
