During its meeting on November 8, the Ohio Academy of Family Physicians (OAFP) Board of Directors honored Edward T. Bope, MD, FAAFP, for his 27 years of dedicated service as editor of OAFP’s magazine, The Ohio Family Physician.
Dr. Bope will be stepping down as editor at the end of the calendar year. OAFP Past President Ryan Kauffman, MD, FAAFP, will be taking over the responsibilities as magazine editor.
In honoring Dr. Bope, OAFP Executive Vice President Ann Spicer stated, “Over the years, the ‘magazine’ has evolved in many ways under Dr. Bope’s leadership. Initially a two-color monthly publication presented in a 5×7 inch book size, The Ohio Family Physician grew to a full-color quarterly publication in an 8×10 inch format.
In order to meet member preferences, we transitioned from primarily a continuing medical education journal to one that includes feature articles in addition to educational material. Every step of the way, Dr. Bope has been involved in the decisions, planning, and efforts to ensure that The Ohio Family Physician proactively evolves to meet the needs of Ohio’s family physicians.
Dr. Bope, we salute you for your exemplary service and thank you for a job well done. Over the past 27 years, you ensured that The Ohio Family Physician remained a foremost member benefit and set the standard of excellence for other American Academy of Family Physicians constituent chapter and Ohio medical society publications.”
The board presented Dr. Bope with a leather-bound collection of his editor’s messages over the years.
Thank you Dr. Bope for your years of editorial excellence and guidance.
