The Health Policy Institute of Ohio (HPIO) Addiction Evidence Project Advisory Group met on April 29 to continue to develop the law enforcement/criminal justice system section of the Ohio Addiction Policy Inventory and Scorecard. Executive Vice President Ann Spicer represents the Ohio Academy of Family Physicians on the Addiction Evidence Project Advisory Group.
- Policymakers will be knowledgeable about addition policy changes enacted in Ohio within the past 5 years and the extent to which these policies aligned with existing standards and evidence.
- Policymakers will identify strengths, gaps, and opportunities for improvement in policy.
- Policymakers and other stakeholders will be more equipped to reduce substance use disorders in a coordinated, comprehensive, effective, and efficient way that leads to increased recovery and overall health and wellbeing for Ohioans.
This project is specifically looking not only at Ohio policies that work but also at those for which there is a lack of evidence of effectiveness or for which there is evidence of ineffectiveness or harm.
Two phases of the project have already been completed. Phase 1 focused on prevention, treatment, and recovery. Phase 2 focuses on overdose reversal and other forms of harm reduction.
