The Ohio Academy of Family Physicians, in collaboration with the Ohio Department of Health, Ryan Kauffman, MD, of Hickory Medical Direct Primary Care LLC, and Ohio State University family medicine medical graduate Benjamin Romney, MD, has created a training video for practice teams on how to appropriately measure blood pressure in the office.
The objective of the video is to encourage members to train practice staff, students, residents, and even new-to-the practice physicians, on how to consistently perform a proper blood pressure measurement.
The video can be accessed on the OAFP website or on the OAFP’s YouTube page.
The video was developed as a component of a hypertension quality improvement module that is currently in development and due to be released in January 2016. The module will be accredited by the American Board of Family Medicine for an alternative activity for Maintenance of Certification for Family Physicians Part IV credit and by the American Academy of Family Physicians for Performance Improvement in Practice Prescribed credit.
The video was supported by Grant Number 2B01OT009042, funded by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Its contents are solely the responsibility of the authors and do not necessarily represent the official views of the CDC or the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
