The Ohio Academy of Family Physicians (OAFP) is thrilled to announce that an OAFP resident member and medical student member have been appointed to American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP) commissions. Their terms of office begin on Thursday, December 15, and run through Thursday, December 14, 2023.
Justin Anderson, MD, PGY2 at The Ohio State University Family Medicine Residency, will serve as a resident member to the AAFP Commission on Education. Dr. Anderson is a member of the OAFP Public Policy Committee, was awarded the Family Medicine Advocacy Summit Scholarship to attend the AAFP Family Medicine Advocacy Summit in May, and held a number of leadership positions with the Student National Medical Association as a medical student.
Sumayya Vawda, M3 at Northeast Ohio Medical University College of Medicine (NEOMED), will serve as a student member to the AAFP Commission on Continuing Professional Development. Sumayya is a member of the OAFP Public Policy Committee, part of the current cohort of the AAFP’s Primary Care Leadership Collaborative, and is clinic chief at the Student Run Free Clinic at NEOMED.
