The Ohio Department of Health (ODH) has provided several updates related to COVID-19 vaccine ordering.
Pfizer has updated its direct shipment options and will no longer be offering the smaller 450-dose packaging. The minimum order quantity for Pfizer vaccine that can be direct shipped from the manufacturer will revert back to 1,170 doses. In the ImpactSIIS Vaccine Ordering Management System (VOMS), the Pfizer 450-dose option has been de-activated from the COVID-19 Pfizer order set. Smaller quantities of the Pfizer vaccine are still available for providers through the ODH Receipt Store and Stage (RSS) Warehouse in the following quantities:
- COVID-19 Pfizer RSS (minimum order quantity: 120 doses)
- COVID-19 Pfizer 30 (minimum order quantity: 30 doses).
Moderna Vaccine Quantities
Moderna is in the process of phasing out 10-dose vials and switching to 14-dose vials. There is a limited supply of Moderna 10-dose vials available at the federal level. Providers may order either the 10-dose or 14-dose vial until this federal supply of 10-dose vials is exhausted.
Johnson & Johnson (Janssen) Vaccine
Federal supply of Johnson & Johnson (Janssen) vaccine is expected to re-open soon for ordering. In the meantime, ODH will continue to work with Ohio vaccine providers to transfer existing doses between providers as needed.
Vaccine providers that have 100-dose quantities or more and do not expect to administer the doses prior to their expiration dates are asked to use the ODH COVID-19 Vaccine Transfer Portal so those doses can be reallocated. Vaccine providers with excess doses are asked to complete the online COVID-19 Vaccine Request of Movement Form.
ODH will share updates about new J&J orders as soon as they are available.
Time Frames for Ordering and Delivery of COVID-19 Vaccine
VOMS is open for vaccine providers to place orders 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Vaccine providers can order COVID-19 vaccine at their convenience.
ODH is committed to getting COVID-19 vaccines to its providers as quickly as possible. To ensure adequate inventory levels, providers should anticipate seven (7) days from the date your order is entered into VOMS and the vaccine is delivered to your facility. Orders for products that are shipped directly from the manufacturer, or the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) McKesson Distribution Center, will be approved and processed Monday through Friday.
