The Ohio Academy of Family Physicians (OAFP) and the OAFP Foundation (Foundation) welcomed members, family, and friends for a Night Out with the Columbus Clippers on June 4 at Huntington Park in downtown Columbus, OH. The Clippers pulled off a 5-4 win against the Toledo Mud Hens and fans celebrated with a fireworks show post-game.
Thank you to everyone that was able to the game! For each ticket purchased through the Foundation, the Columbus Clippers provided a $2 donation to the Foundation to support our mission of cultivating student career choice in the specialty of family medicine by funding student scholarships and programs like this summer’s Leroy A. Rodgers, MD, Preceptorship Program.
Foundation Board of Trustees Chair Roxanne Cech, MD, of Marietta, OH, provided introductory remarks to the crowd highlighting the importance of family medicine for Ohio residents and the great care Ohio’s family physicians have provided to their patients over the years. Thank you Dr. Cech!
A big thank you also goes to OAFP Executive Vice President Kate Mahler, CAE, our highest bidder in the online auction to win the chance to throw the first pitch at the game. Kate’s son, Grant, threw out the first pitch and did a fantastic job!
