The summer issue of The Ohio Family Physician focuses on mental and behavioral health for both patients and family physicians. With the increase of mental health conditions due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it is imperative that family physicians, who are on the front-line of care, screen their patients for depression and also check-in on their personal well-being. The Ohio Academy of Family Physicians (OAFP) has several professional resources for physicians to manage their wellness and is dedicated to addressing the systemic causes of physician burnout.
- Exercise Prescription as Treatment for Anxiety and Depression
- Intellectual Disability Psychiatry: A Primer for PCPs
- Back to Bed: Promoting Quality Sleep in Healthcare Workers
- Social Media’s Effects of Adolescent Mental Health
Also in this issue, you’ll find the first Executive Vice President’s Message from Kate Mahler, CAE, as well as the final President’s Message from OAFP President Teresa Zryd, MD, MSPH, FAAFP.
There are also multiple “save-the-dates” for OAFP meetings to add to your calendar such as the Virtual Annual Membership Meeting on Sunday, August 14, at 6 p.m., the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP) National Conference of Family Medicine Residents and Medical Students (National Conference), and the corresponding Ohio Reception, as well as the upcoming Health Equity & Social Justice Discussion Club on Thursday, July 21, the CME Roadshow programs in Findlay, OH, and Canton, OH, this fall, and the 2023 Family Medicine Workshop.
