The OAFP Foundation is seeking medical students and residents interested in serving on its board of trustees. The student and resident trustees will serve a one-year term beginning Friday, July 1, 2016, and ending Friday, June 30, 2017.
The helpful advice and good insights contributed to the Foundation by student and resident trustees assists the continuing development of Foundation programs that provide medical students with a better understanding of family medicine, encouragement to choose the family medicine specialty, and development of future leaders for the specialty – ultimately improving and increasing access to quality health care for all Ohioans.
The Foundation board meetings are held on Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. until noon, and are typically scheduled on Ohio Academy of Family Physicians cluster weekends. Lunch is provided after the meeting. The expectation is the student and resident trustees will make every effort to attend Foundation board meetings. Unfortunately, there is no reimbursement for travel to a Foundation meeting.
Students and residents interested in serving should contact Director of Events and Foundation Programs Kaitlin Smith. Candidates should provide a brief statement describing their interest in serving on the Foundation Board of Trustees, as well as a current CV. The deadline for candidates’ statements of interest and CVs is Friday, June 3.
