The Ohio Academy of Family Physicians (OAFP) is looking for additional member volunteers (active and resident members) to serve as peer reviewers for Easy Performance Improvement (EasyPI).
EasyPI is a peer-reviewed, curated collection of online educational resources to support family physicians in completing a performance improvement (PI) project in practice to receive American Board of Family Medicine Family Medicine Certification points and continuing medical education credit for the work they do. EasyPI will guide you through the process of evaluating background information for a specific condition, determining how this information should drive patient care, and implementing team-based practice change to improve patient outcomes.
An important part of the process for this initiative is peer review. In order to ensure each topic track is appropriate and relevant for family physicians, the OAFP is looking for a dedicated group of volunteers to serve as peer reviewers for EasyPI topic tracks as they are developed. It is our goal to have approximately three to six reviewers for each track.
- Initially, each EasyPI track will be created by a physician project champion, OAFP staff, and any sponsors connected to the topic.
- A draft of the EasyPI track will be sent to all reviewers in the form of Word documents as well as a “behind-the-scenes” link to the webpage if available. Content included will be from the OAFP as well as external resources.
- All reviewers will complete a peer review form. Reviewers will be able to make comments on the documents using the Track Changesand/or Comment features in Word as needed.
- Reviewer will return the completed reviews to OAFP staff within a set timeframe, no more than two weeks.
- After being anonymized, the reviews will be returned to the author for revisions.
- After revisions, the document will be reviewed by staff and if no further peer review is necessary, the track will be placed on the web.
After the initial launch, EasyPI tracks will be reviewed yearly by past peer reviewers to ensure that content is up-to-date and relevant to family physicians and their practice teams for the PI process. Peer reviewers may also be asked to review added resources from sponsors as they become available, no more than two times per year per track.
- Approximately two hours of time per track being reviewed. Interested reviewers will not need to review each track developed.
- Participate in email correspondence throughout the year if specific feedback on the initiative is needed or if resources need to be added to reviewed track pages.
- If available, participate in a yearly review of all EasyPI topic tracks to ensure resources stay up-to-date.
