At the State Medical Board of Ohio meeting on April 8, the board acknowledged that existing statute Ohio Revised Code Section 4730.04 pertains to physician assistants acting in times of emergency.
Specifically, during the emergency, physicians who supervise physician assistants are no longer required to meet the supervision requirements in Ohio law and the physicians designated as the medical director of the emergency may supervise the medical care provided by the physician assistant. This is in effect as long as Ohio is under a declared state of emergency for COVID-19.
