The American Cancer Society estimates that approximately 43,600 women will die from breast cancer, and 4,290 women will die from cervical cancer in the United States in 2021. Many of these deaths could be prevented if breast and cervical cancer screening rates increased among women at risk.
The Ohio Department of Health’s Breast and Cervical Cancer Project (BCCP) is available to assist women in Ohio with accessing and navigating breast and cervical cancer screenings.
The BCCP’s Patient Navigation Program helps guide women through the healthcare system, find providers and community resources, and answer questions about scheduling appointments, using insurance, and more. To make these services available, BCCP partners with approximately 500 medical, clinical, and laboratory providers in Ohio. To provide an opportunity for Ohio’s family physicians and their practice teams to learn more about breast and cervical cancer, and the BCCP program, the Ohio Academy of Family Physicians (OAFP) is offering three continuing medical education (CME) accredited webinars – FREE of charge for those who are interested!
