The Ohio Academy of Family Physicians (OAFP) hosted the CME Roadshow and Care of Older Adults KSA on October 6 at Gervasi Vineyard in Canton, OH. The event was a wonderful experience for physicians in attendance and provided plenty of opportunities for attendees to connect with each other and speakers. Attendees heard from speakers on a variety of clinical topics, shared a meal together, and participated in an American Board of Family Medicine (ABFM) Group Knowledge Self-Assessment (KSA) on the Care of Older Adults.

ABFM representatives were present to connect with attendees and collect feedback on the certification planner tool that has been added to physician portfolios. The OAFP created a certification planning tool which was utilized at in-person and virtual events where ABFM Family Medicine Certification was the main topic. Physician attendees were able to utilize the document to map out their Family Medicine Certification (FMC) activities for their three-year stage. After much success using the certification planning tool with physicians, the ABFM decided to incorporate a virtual version in its new MyABFM portfolio. In order to ensure that the tool is successful virtually, the OAFP is providing a group of volunteer physicians to participate in a focus group on the tool – providing valuable feedback to the ABFM before its official launch.
Attendees had the following to say about the roadshow:
“Well-organized and very helpful for members of the OAFP, thanks!”
“Love this location.”
“Extremely valuable.”
“Connecting with ABFM was worth the trip alone.”
If you missed this in-person opportunity, the OAFP will be hosting the 2023 Family Medicine Workshop Saturday-Sunday, January 14-15 & 28-29, 2023, at the Renaissance Columbus Westerville-Polaris Hotel in Westerville, OH. Registration will open later this fall; we hope to see you there!
