The new National Suicide Prevention Lifeline number 988 will go into effect across the United States in July to assist people experiencing mental health crises.
The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration said the transition to 988 is mandatory, but not all states have enacted legislation to cover funding and implementation.
