The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) Innovation Center invites you to the second roundtable discussion about the Innovation Center’s strategic objective to Advance Health Equity on Wednesday, March 16, from 1-3 p.m.
This discussion will focus on how the Innovation Center can support physicians and other health care providers working in underserved communities (commonly known as safety net providers) who take part in CMS Innovation Center models and value-based care. Specifically, this roundtable will be an opportunity to hear perspectives from thought leaders in the areas of health equity and health care on the following three questions:
- Given the range of providers who care for underserved populations, how should the CMS Innovation Center define “safety net providers” for purposes of model design and recruitment?
- What financial incentives, structures, and support are necessary to recruit safety net providers to participate in CMS Innovation Center models?
- What types of technical assistance, data, and workforce do safety net providers need to sustain safety net provider participation in CMS Innovation models? What are effective mechanisms for addressing these infrastructure needs?
Roundtable speakers will include:
- Ben Money from the National Association of Community Health Centers
- Erin O’Malley from America’s Essential Hospitals
- Michelle Morse from the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene
- Amol Navathe from the Penn Leonard Davis Institute of Health Economics
