Medicare rules that took effect January 1 will reward physicians and other health care professionals for providing complex chronic care management to high-need seniors and comprehensive evaluations for those suspected of cognitive impairment by tying payment to new standards. Medicare also will pay for a physician’s time spent on patient cases between visits.
