The Ohio Academy of Family Physicians’ (OAFP) spring issue of The Ohio Family Physician is a culmination of members’ unique experiences in addressing population health—a topic that is complex and varied within practice settings, yet plays an integral role in improving the health of Ohio’s patients. This issue aligns with the OAFP’s strategic priority to assist family physicians in becoming champions of population health and influencers of health equity in their communities.
We hope the articles in this issue inspire conversation and highlight the intersectionality between population health; social determinants of health; and diversity, equity, and inclusion.
- Community-Based Primary Care: Wellness on Wheels in the Hilltop Community
- Ohioans Access to Healthy Food and Nutrition
- Targeting Poverty and Financial Stress as Determinants of Health
- Leveraging Residency Training to Impact Population Health: An Example of Food as Medicine Research
In this issue, you’ll also find save the date announcements for the Chief Resident Workshop on Saturday, April 1, and the Virtual Annual Membership Meeting on Sunday, August 13; as well as reminders for enduring continuing medical education (CME) opportunities including the Breast and Cervical Cancer CME Series and the Preventing Childhood Lead Poisoning Webinars.
Be sure to read the OAFP Foundation’s feature article, Precepting: Another Tool in Your Doctor Bag, which shares an inside look at what it means to be a family medicine preceptor for the Foundation’s Leroy A. Rodgers, MD, Preceptorship Program.
The OAFP Board and staff wishes you a joyous and healthy spring!
