The 2021 Family Medicine Advocacy Summit (FMAS), put on by the American Academy of Family Physicians Governmental Relations division in Washington, D.C., will be held virtually this year Tuesday-Wednesday, May 18-19.
Because of the global pandemic, FMAS 2021 will be structured differently than in years past – in place of in-person plenaries and breakout sessions, attendees will granted additional flexibility to view several “on-demand” virtual training sessions on how to best influence the legislative process through effective lobbying and storytelling at a time that is convenient for them. Attendees will also be invited to join a live training session at 7:30 p.m. EST on Tuesday, May 18, ahead of their virtual Congressional meetings scheduled for Wednesday, May 19.
This year’s reduced cost is $75 for physician members and $50 for students and residents. Interested members are encouraged to register by Friday, April 16.
Plans are being made for an in-person FMAS in 2022, but the virtual nature of this year’s summit will allow a wider range of participants the opportunity to commit themselves to family medicine advocacy in Washington, D.C.
The global pandemic of the last year has proven the importance of family medicine advocacy. This next year is shaping up to be just as important – and we can’t do it without you.
