William F. “Fred” Miser, MD, MA, has been named president-elect of the Association of Family Medicine Residency Directors. Dr. Miser, a professor of family medicine at The Ohio State University (OSU) and director of OSU’s Family Medicine Residency Program, Columbus, OH, is an at-large member of the Ohio Academy of Family Physicians Board of Directors.
In 2013, Dr. Miser was awarded the American Academy of Family Physicians Exemplary Teaching Award for full-time facility. He received the Ohio Family Medicine Educator of the Year Award in 2012 and has received his residency program’s best teacher award on multiple occasions. In addition, Dr. Miser, in 2014, was named to receive both the OSU College of Medicine “Courage to Teach” award and the OSU College of Medicine Distinguished Educator award.
