The Ohio Primary Care Physicians Workforce Collaborative met on February 5 to finalize its workforce recommendations for delivery to the Ohio Coalition of Primary Care Physicians on Friday, May 3. The Ohio Coalition of Primary Care Physicians created the collaborative in September 2017.
Ohio Academy of Family Physicians President Stan Anderson, MD, officially represents the OAFP on the collaborative. OAFP Executive Vice President Ann Spicer filled in for Dr. Anderson, who was unable to attend the February 5 meeting.
- Finalize the health professionals’ data warehouse for all health professions licensed in Ohio; seek support from the Ohio Department of Administrative Services, the Ohio Department of Medicaid, and the Ohio Department of Health for collecting and analyzing all necessary data sets from licensure/re-licensure materials.
- Form a coalition to create a new version of primary care in Ohio relative to:
- Training/curriculum reform
- Practice style revisions
- Payment reform
- Explore the creation of an Ohio Graduate Medical Education Council.
Collaborative members were appointed to work groups that are charged with proposing targeted action plans for each of the three recommendations. Ted Wymyslo, MD, will discuss recommendations with the Council of Deans in addition to presenting recommendations to the Ohio Coalition of Primary Care Physicians during its next meeting on Friday, May 3.
The collaborative will also recommend dissolution of the group.
