Instead of explaining the data about the importance of supporting your Foundation, I’d like to share comments from a 2016 Leroy A. Rodgers, MD, Preceptorship Program participant. Hopefully, this will be all the inspiration you need!
“The summer after the first year of medical school was a special treat, a time when I could literally, and figuratively, see the light of day, after one of my most challenging and difficult years.
Participating in the Leroy A. Rodgers, MD, Preceptorship Program was the best decision I could have made to renew my interest in family medicine and re-charge my batteries to get through my second year of medical school.
The opportunity allowed me to practice, to realize that anatomy, histology, biochemistry, and physiology matter in how I treat patients. I realized that the parts of medical school I struggle with are just that, parts, and those struggles will eventually end, metamorphosing into a whole, fulfilling career.
This preceptorship served as the perfect educational and emotional complement to my training. It enabled me to find joy in being a student and a future physician.
My preceptorship experience renewed my interest and commitment in being a competent, compassionate family physician.”
Foundation programs have benefited thousands of Ohio medical students and residents through educational grants, preceptorship stipends, and scholarships. The generosity of individual donors, like you, helps sustain family medicine pipeline programs that encourage students to choose a family medicine career and develop future leaders for the specialty.
Will you help provide opportunities for more medical students, like the one highlighted above, to see their true potential in a family medicine career?
Make a donation today – no matter how big or small – to the future of your specialty!
Thank you for your consideration and happy holidays!
