In the coming days, the United States Congress will propose, debate, and consider policies aimed at rolling back the significant coverage gains made in our health care system.
- Nearly one million Ohioans stand to lose health coverage through Medicaid or federally subsidized private insurance policies
- An estimated 220,000 Ohioans will be unable to afford their care for mental illness or drug addiction.
In a recent report released by the Kasich administration, Ohioans who became eligible for health care coverage through Medicaid expansion reported that it was easier for them to keep or find work, and most report better health and financial security as a result of obtaining coverage.
While there clearly are places where our current health care system needs improvement, the pursuit of those improvements should not come at the expense of progress made.
Contact Senators Rob Portman and Sherrod Brown and your member of Congress by using speak out. Urge them to put patients first. Actions taken by Congress should not hurt Ohioans and their ability to access needed health care.
