Educate kids in your community about the harmful effects of tobacco use with Tar Wars. Each year, medical students who present Tar Wars to the most children and communities have the opportunity to win up to $500 for their family medicine interest groups (FMIGs).
- First Prize: $500
- Second Prize: $300
- Third Prize: $200
Prepare for your presentation with Tar Wars materials. Presentations must occur between September 1, 2016, and Saturday, April 1, 2017. Remember: The more you present, the higher your chances to win, and the more you can spread the word about the harmful effects of tobacco use in your community.
To apply for the award, a medical student, faculty, or staff member must complete the American Academy of Family Physicians Tar Wars Feedback Form for Presenters on behalf of your FMIG by April 1. When filling out the form, please select “yes” when asked if you are participating in the FMIG awards program (Tar Wars Challenge). You will be required to provide information about your medical school, FMIG, faculty advisor, presentation dates and locations, and medical student participation.
