Family medicine practice can be both physically and mentally challenging. The long hours, including charting time at home or on weekends, can take a toll on our happiness. However, if you find ways to bring joy to your practice and your physical, emotional, and spiritual self, you will feel more satisfaction and have less burnout.
The Ohio Academy of Family Physicians has dedicated the summer 2017 issue of The Ohio Family Physician (TOFP) to finding joy in medicine. Please read all of the joy of medicine features to help remind you why you chose family medicine.
The Academy is here to help you reduce burnout, increase resiliency, and find joy. Be sure to check out the Wellness Wednesdays series and all the details on the 2017 Members Assembly. During this year’s Members Assembly, attendees will experience joy and reunite to connect, recharge, and reignite the passion that makes family medicine so great. In addition, Executive Vice President Ann Spicer gives a detailed description of the Academy’s joy initiatives in her EVP Message.
Also covered are President Ryan Kauffman, MD’s, last column on your Academy’s advocacy effort in support of the ProMedica Toledo Hospital Family Medicine Residency; a summary of our first Quality Improvement Summit; an exciting announcement about our new and improved website launching later this summer; and much, much more.
Each TOFP issue is available in print and digital formats. If you would like to change how you receive TOFP, please contact Membership Services Manager Emily Pavoni or call 800.742.7327.
