The Ohio Department of Commerce and the OneOhio Recovery Foundation recently announced a new $20 million statewide public education campaign aimed at helping Ohioans better understand the health and safety risks associated with cannabis use (Source: Ohio Launches $20M Targeted Marijuana Education Campaign, Dayton Daily News, May 21).
Recent polling commissioned by OneOhio Recovery Foundation found cannabis use among Ohio adults continues to rise. According to the survey, 41% of Ohioans report currently using cannabis, up from 35% in 2024, while nearly half of current users said they consume cannabis daily.
The polling also found attitudes toward cannabis are shifting. About 67% of Ohioans surveyed said cannabis has become more socially acceptable since legalization. Among women who are pregnant or planning to become pregnant, 51% reported using cannabis, according to the survey data.
The education initiative will include multiple statewide campaigns focused on expectant and prospective mothers, youth, and Ohio’s workforce.
