The Ohio Academy of Family Physicians (OAFP) will host its first virtual Wellness Week Monday-Friday, August 9 – 13. Each morning that week, OAFP members will receive an email full of resources, articles, videos, activities, etc., that will correspond to a daily theme.
On Friday, August 13, the daily theme will be “Embrace & Prioritize Your Creativity: Have Fun!”
For most family physicians, the work of medicine is a calling and a passion. It’s why you’re the best at what you do. But, it doesn’t have to be the only thing that takes up your time and energy. When signs of burnout strike, sometimes it may be necessary to take time to invest in another hobby or act of creativity to renew the spirit.
A creative outlet or hobby doesn’t have to be in the arts, either. It could be sports, hiking, volunteering, horseback riding, or anything that allows you to be present with whatever it is you choose to do.
This is where we’d love to hear from you! What creative outlets have you found? Did you discover a hidden talent during quarantine? Or, maybe you got back to that thing you did before medical school. Whatever it may be, we’d love to feature our OAFP members’ creative side – highlighting that you’re more than a MD, DO, or physician in training!
If you would like to share your creative talents with us, please submit a photo and a one to two paragraph description of your activity to Director of Foundation & Strategic Programs Kaitlin McGuffie by Friday, July 30. We will compile photos with descriptions and share them on the Wellness Week webpage, as well as on our social media platforms.
If you have any questions about this request or Wellness Week in general, reach out to Kaitlin anytime!
