Recently, the OAFP Board of Directors approved the creation of a taskforce to evaluate the current structure, role, and effectiveness of its regional chapters.
During the summer/fall, this taskforce will meet virtually (likely in June, August, and October) to develop an action plan for recommendation to the OAFP board during its November meeting.
If you are interested in serving on this taskforce, please contact Emily Pavoni by Friday, May 15.
Background
Historically, regional chapters have played a role in fostering local engagement, leadership development, and member connection. However, over the past several years, activity levels and effectiveness vary significantly across regions, creating an inconsistent experience for members and an unclear understanding of the regional chapter relationship to the OAFP. If the OAFP is to continue to support its regional chapters, it is important to ensure that regional structures are aligned with current member needs, organizational priorities, and available resources.
At present, there is an opportunity to more clearly define the purpose, role, and expectations of regional chapters while also assessing their overall sustainability. Without this clarity, chapters and their members will continue to operate with differing assumptions about responsibilities, support, and outcomes. A thoughtful, data-informed review will help identify what is working well, where challenges exist, and what adjustments may be needed to either terminate chapters or strengthen engagement across the state.
