The Department of Family and Community Medicine at the Northeast Ohio Medical University (NEOMED) invites applications for a non-tenure-track faculty position as an assistant/associate professor. Principal responsibilities include serving as a course director for the second-year Principles of Clinical Medicine course and as director of the department’s office of geriatrics. The position will also involve providing clinical care including patient care and/or precepting of NEOMED students along with contributing to the overall teaching, research, and service mission of the department.
The successful candidate will have an MD or DO and Board Certification in family medicine or equivalent with interest and experience in geriatrics. A minimum of five years’ experience in teaching and curriculum development including geriatrics is preferred. The successful candidate will also show evidence of teaching effectiveness, scholarly activity, leadership, and strong interpersonal skills. Promise of growth in teaching, research, and administration will also be demonstrated. We particularly welcome applications from candidates who are historically underrepresented in higher education, and/or who have experience working with diverse populations. Salary is commensurate with experience.
The Department of Family and Community Medicine teaches in virtually every aspect of the curriculum at NEOMED. From the introductory psychosocial clinical medicine courses, the required clerkships in the M3 year, to electives and research opportunities in the M4 year, we are integral to the education of our students throughout their academic careers. We are the academic home to six family medicine residency programs in four different cities, as well as the Northeast Ohio Network® (NEON®), our practice-based research network.
