The Ohio Academy of Family Physicians Members Assembly, scheduled for Saturday, August 12, will feature a panel of experts on Ohio’s Medical Marijuana Program. In 2016, the Ohio General Assembly legalized medical marijuana for certain medical conditions; medical marijuana will be available to qualifying patients in 2018. The panel discussion will include a review of the medical literature on the effectiveness, adverse effects, and safety of medical marijuana. Experts from the SMBO, the State of Ohio Board of Pharmacy, and the Ohio Medical Marijuana Advisory Committee will discuss the complications and intricacies of implementing Ohio’s medical marijuana program when federal law prohibits prescribing, purchase, or sale of marijuana.
