The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) is reviewing practice applications and payer proposals for Primary Care First (PCF).
CMS is delaying the start of the Seriously Ill Population (SIP) component by three months; it will now begin on Thursday, April 1, 2021. The PCF component will begin as scheduled on Friday, January 1, 2021. Consequently, practices accepted to both components will begin their participation in the PCF component three months before they begin their participation in the SIP component.
Applicants to the PCF component can expect to receive a letter with their official status this summer. Additionally, payers that submitted PCF and SIP partnership proposals can expect to receive notice of their status this summer. Applicants to the SIP component can expect to receive a letter with their official status in the fall. Onboarding for participating practices and payer partners will start in the fall of 2020 for the PCF component, and in the winter of 2021 for the SIP component.
CMS plans to solicit a second round of applications for practices currently participating in Comprehensive Primary Care Plus (CPC+) that would begin PCF participation in January 2022.
At this time, the CMS PCF listserv will not be used regularly to disseminate PCF related updates. Please refer to the PCF website for resources and up-to-date information on the model. If you have any questions, contact PCF Support or call 833.226.7278.
