On February 15 the Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine, Athens, OH, held a public policy day for first and second year medical students at their campuses in Athens, Dublin, and Cleveland. The theme for the day was professionalism, civility, and ethical behavior.
Ohio Academy of Family Physicians Executive Vice President Ann Spicer facilitated three small group sessions on women’s health. The discussions resulted in lively discussions about abortion, defunding of Planned Parenthood, the role of professional associations in controversial issues, the appropriate role of government in the practice of medicine, and balancing the personal beliefs of patients and physicians in the practice of medicine.
