The number of Ohioans who do not have health coverage ticked up in 2017, while the national uninsured rate remained flat (Source: “Census: Uninsured Rate Held Steady in 2017, with 28.5M Lacking Coverage,” The Hill, September 12, 2018).
According to data released by the Census Bureau, 6% of Ohioans did not have health insurance in 2017, compared to 5.6% in 2016 (the state’s uninsured rate was 11% in 2013 before major provisions of the Affordable Care Act were implemented). The national uninsured rate held steady at 8.8%, which translates to 28.5 million people, was the same as the rate from 2016.
