Ohio medical students and family medicine residents – mark your calendars for this year’s National Conference of Family Medicine Residents and Medical Students (National Conference) from the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP)! Set for Thursday-Saturday, August 1-3, in Kansas City, MO, this event brings together medical students and residents from all over the country who share a passion for family medicine. Make plans to join your peers at this year’s event for the best education, networking, and residency program expo for your specialty!
Applications are now open for student and resident members interested in representing their fellow Ohio medical students at the National Congress of Student Members (NCSM), or family medicine residents at the National Congress of Family Medicine Residents (NCFMR), hosted in conjunction with National Conference.
A delegate and alternate delegate pair will be selected to represent their respective Ohio medical students or residents during discussions, resolution writing, and elections at the congress sessions. While any student/resident member of the AAFP may participate in congress discussions and resolution writing, only chapter delegates are eligible to vote in elections. The delegate and alternate delegate will work as a team to collect input from members and submit their votes.
- Represent fellow members at their national policy making forums
- Vote for elected positions and other leadership roles in the AAFP
- Receive instruction in parliamentary procedure and informed decision making

- Learn about the AAFP’s strategic priorities and how the Academy and other key organizations are addressing issues of importance to students and residents.
Additional information on the delegate roles and applications for students and residents can be found on the Ohio Academy of Family Physicians (OAFP) website. The AAFP also provides a Congress schedule and the benefits and responsibilities of being a chapter delegate or alternate to provide an overview of role responsibilities at National Conference.
