The 2017 application cycle for the Ohio Department of Health’s (ODH) 2017 State 30 J-1 Visa Waiver Program is now open. Potential sponsors for the 2017 application cycle should complete and submit the Notice of Intent to Apply form as soon as possible.
Applications for high-priority primary care and addiction treatment placements will be accepted until Friday, June 30. All other applications must be postmarked by Friday, March 31.
Some tips for the 2017 application cycle include:
- Thoroughly read the application instructions and forms and be sure to use only the 2017 application forms. Check all documents for completeness, accuracy, and consistency before submission. Do not submit additional materials unless requested.
- A new priority category has been created to address the state’s addiction treatment workforce needs.
- ODH has the sole discretion to limit the number of waiver recommendations for sponsors who submit multiple applications and for those who currently sponsor physicians serving in the Ohio J-1 Visa Waiver Program. Applications from sponsors who submit more than one application will not be reviewed unless the same sponsor-identified representative is named on each application.
- Placement of hospital-based non-primary care physicians using hospital primary care facility Health Professional Shortage Area (HPSA) designations will no longer be permitted.
Please thoroughly read webpage information, application instructions, and forms, and be sure to use only the 2017 application material available on the ODH website.
