On behalf of the 5,200 family physician, family medicine resident, and medical student members of the Ohio Academy of Family Physicians (OAFP), OAFP President Anna McMaster, MD, wrote to Ohio Department of Health Director Amy Action, MD, MPH, to offer thanks and support for her actions during the COVID-19 pandemic emergency.
The letter dated May 12, 2020, states, “During this dangerous and unprecedented time, we applaud your efforts to utilize public health data, expertise, and medical evidence to protect the citizens of Ohio during this pandemic. Your efforts at educating Ohioans about social distancing, donning masks in public spaces, hand-washing, and the importance of abiding by stay-at-home orders to flatten the curve have been a model for the nation.”
Dr. Acton has recently come under fire from those unhappy with Ohio’s stay-at-home orders and the gradual approach to re-opening Ohio’s economy. Protesters have frequented her home as well as the Statehouse grounds.
Please ask Amy Acton to wear a full face shield to tell the public this is an acceptable PPE to protect the general public!
