The Ohio Academy of Family Physicians (OAFP) enthusiastically supports the appointment Brian L. Bachelder, MD, as chair of the AAFP Commission on Education. Dr. Bachelder has served with dedication on the commission over the past four years during which time he chaired the Subcommittee on the 2020 National Conference and served on the Working Group on Rural Health. We are confident that he has the skills, knowledge, and experience to lead the Education Commission in an exemplary manner.
In her letter of chapter support, OAFP President Anna McMaster, MD, said, “Dr. Bachelder has vast leadership experience at both the national and state levels of organized medicine. In addition to his service on the AAFP Commission on Education, he previously served on the AAFP Commission on Membership and Member Services and served and chaired the AAFP Commission on Quality.
The letter continues, “As past president of the OAFP, past president of the Ohio State Medical Association, and past chair of the OAFP Foundation, Dr. Bachelder knows how to lead a meeting, bring a group of individuals with divergent opinions to consensus, and get things done. He is not only a leader, but a worker who always steps up to the plate when volunteers are needed and is diligent about completing assignments in a timely and thorough manner.”
In 2004, Dr. Bachelder received OAFP’s first-ever Torchlight Leadership Award in recognition of his advocacy for passage of Ohio’s tort reform legislation. In 2012, Dr. Bachelder was recognized as the OAFP Foundation Philanthropist of the Year.
Good luck, Dr. Bachelder!
