Executive Vice President Ann Spicer and Deputy Executive Vice President Kate Mahler, CAE, attended the 2018 American Academy of Family Physicians Chapter Executive Leadership Program held September 20-21 in Chicago. This annual program for AAFP chapter staff is supported by the AAFP Foundation to give executive staff the opportunity to learn, network, and grow their leadership skills.
Chapter staff had the opportunity to meet and hear from Heather Palmer, the newly hired executive director of the AAFP Foundation and AAFP vice president of development. Staff learned about AAFP strategic engagement efforts from Dana Nolte, director of business development and strategic engagement. Shannon Scott, senior vice president for AAFP marketing, communications and membership, reviewed key findings from the 2018 Members Satisfaction Survey. Also featured were sessions on social media innovations, building the board member’s capacity to lead, chapter innovations in strategic planning, and association accounting.
While the sessions are outstanding learning opportunities, the networking and sharing of ideas among chapters between sessions are tremendously valuable as well.
Thanks to the AAFP Foundation for supporting this important leadership program for AAFP chapter executive leadership staff!
