About the Foundation
The Foundation is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization and serves as the philanthropic arm of the OAFP. The Foundation supports programs and activities that build a strong family medicine workforce for Ohio each year, fulfilling its mission to cultivate career choice in the specialty of family medicine.
The Foundation strives to ensure a thriving family physician workforce for Ohio through family medicine experience and leadership opportunities for medical students and residents. Foundation programming provides medical students the opportunity to witness the true effects a family physician has on their community, and re-ignites the passion for family medicine in residents that have already made a commitment to the specialty.
Visit the Foundation’s website to learn more about its programs like the Leroy A. Rodgers, MD, Preceptorship Program that introduces students to real life family medicine; delegate roles for students and residents to represent their fellow Ohio students and residents at national congresses; and student scholarships to the American Academy of Family Physicians National Conference of Family Medicine Residents and Medical Students to connect students with fellow future family physicians and leaders.
