The Foundation will reimburse the selected resident and student delegates and alternate delegates up to $1,200 in eligible expenses to represent OAFP resident and student members during the congresses. The resident and student congresses are held during the AAFP National Conference for Family Medicine Residents and Medical Students Thursday-Saturday, July 27 – 29, in Kansas City, MO. OAFP delegates also have the opportunity to attend the conference sessions.
- Represent OAFP resident and student members at national policy making forum
- Learn about the AAFP and how it addresses issues of importance to residents and students
- Learn how parliamentary procedure works
- Practice resolution writing
- Learn more about informed decision making and how important decisions are made by the AAFP
- Caucus with state delegation
- Debate important issues
- Learn about projects and programs of American Medical Association (AMA) and other family medicine organizations of special interest to residents and students
- Elect resident and student representatives to AAFP Board, the AAFP Congress and the AMA; and maybe even run for resident or student delegate to the AAFP Congress of Delegates or other national level positions.
The OAFP Facebook groups for residents and students are great places to discuss any issues you, as a resident or student, would want delegates to bring forward in a resolution or discussion at the congresses.
Residents and Students are encouraged to register for National Conference, July 27 – 29 in Kansas City. The early registration deadline is Thursday, June 29. Choose from more than 35 relevant workshop topics, network with more than 300 family medicine residency programs and more than 50 physician employers, plus meet thousands of peers who share your passion for family medicine.
