Beginning Thursday, October 1, all Ohio Medicaid state plan home health fee-for-service claims will require prior authorization. This applies to all members, including those on waiver programs.
There will be a 90‑day grace period during which waiver recipient claims requiring prior authorization for state plan home health services will continue to pay. This grace period only applies to waiver recipients to allow time for coordination with the waiver case manager.
Please review the updated guidance, service descriptions, documentation requirements, and details on appropriate use of home health services on the Ohio Medicaid Home Health Services webpage.
There will be a training course held on Tuesday, September 22, from 9-11 a.m. on the new prior authorization requirements, as well as how to input prior authorizations in PNM.
You also can refer to the Home Health Prior Authorizations Sign Up Guide for more information on the process.
