The Newborn Safety Incubator rules set forth in Chapter 3701-86 of the Ohio Administrative Code in 2016/2017 is due for its five-year review and the Ohio Department of Health (ODH)
Bureau of Regulatory Operations has requested physician feedback on the use of these units or their guiding rules.
If you have encountered any issues with the operation of these units, please provide the Ohio Academy of Family Physicians with that information by Friday, May 6. Details can be emailed to Executive Vice President Kate Mahler, CAE.
Refiling of the rules is due Saturday, October 1. ODH has determined due to a lack of complaints or inquiries relating to the newborn safety incubators, lack of changes to the technology of the units, absence of statutory revisions, and the unit placement restrictions of the authorizing statute, the rules will be filed without changes.
A stakeholder advisory meeting is set for Thursday, May 12, and all information submitted in advance by the OAFP will be considered for potential revisions to the rules if necessary.
