Join the Northeast Ohio Academy of Family Physicians (NEOAFP) for an engaging discussion of the book Factfulness: Ten Reasons We’re Wrong about the World—and Why Things Are Better Than You Think.
Factfulness, written by Hans Rosling, discusses how we view the world and how many of our assumptions are overly pessimistic. He highlights 10 common “instincts” that cause people to reach false conclusions and how to combat these. Bill Gates said that it was “one of the most important books I’ve ever read―an indispensable guide to thinking clearly about the world.” While this book covers a wide range of topics and ideas, the author is a physician and includes many health related examples. In addition, while the thinking fallacies discussed are presented in the context of world views, these same fallacies can affect our thinking about patients and their environments.
This discussion will occur via zoom on Thursday, April 15, at 7 p.m. Please RSVP by Sunday, April 11, to neoafp@gmail.com and a link will be provided at that time.
**If you are a medical student or resident and would like the NEOAFP to purchase a copy of the book for you, please include that in your RSVP and allow several days for delivery.
