This week marks the 22nd American Medical Student Association’s (ASMA) National Primary Care Week (NPCW)! This year’s theme is “Health Outside of the Hospital” with a spotlight on the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on community and health care.
The goal of NPCW is to engage physicians-in-training, students across the health care spectrum, and the general public on the indispensable role of primary care in our health care system through special programming and communications.
The American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP) works closely with the AMSA to make NPCW a successful promotional initiative for primary care and create an opportunity for family medicine interest groups to spread awareness of family medicine as an essential part of the primary care workforce.
